Building and engineering suppliers are a major skills influence within the low carbon construction sector.  They ensure high standards in their products, and equally excel audited processes for their approved contractors to benefit with accreditation for quality craftsmanship and warranties.

To help overcome some of the barriers for disadvantaged people to enter the retrofit industry, we are developing relationships with suppliers who are very responsive and influential within the communities through excellent corporate social responsibility, and may foresee value in our proposals.

Suppliers are in a unique position where they might see ways for influencing the skills intake and vocational training commitments within their approved networks.  Where contractors’ additional work experience opportunities and onsite skills training can add value to their procurement processes.

Such foresight can make a positive impact with more people accessing competencies in the low carbon construction disciplines, actions that can add value to the skills requirements as outlined in the recommendations within the Government’s Low Carbon Construction Report.
